Join the excitement!  The AWANA Club meets Sunday nights starting in September from 5:30 pm to 7pm (click here to see the complete 2006-2007 schedule).  The club is open to kids from preschool through high school.  The younger AWANA kids get to wear uniforms decorated with the patches and pins they earn by working through handbooks of a variety of projects, activities and Bible verses.  The children are grouped by age:  Cubbies (3- and 4- year olds), Sparks (Kindergarten through 2nd grade), T&T Boys and T&T Girls (3rd through 6th grade), and Trek/24-7 (7th and 8th grade).  This year for the first time, high school youth are included in the Journey/24-7 program.  All the activities and projects are tailored for each age group.

The younger kids enjoy the games and music that are part of every regular meeting.  High school youth will work on service projects, play athletic games, and dig deeper into Scripture and what God is all about.  Meetings with special themes are planned too for all the AWANA youth, such as Bible Character Dress-up Night (right before Hallowe'en), Crazy Hat Night, and Favorite Team Night.

awana games logoSpecial events include local and regional AWANA Games and Bible Quiz competitions, Christmas caroling at a local retirement home, and an Easter Egg hunt.  The Grand Prix car event is one of the high points of the year.  Each participant makes and decorates their own model car, then competes to see who is fastest on Race Day.  Awards are also given for design.  Winners go on the regional finals.  The AWANA Store opens twice during the year, once right before Christmas and again before Mother's and Father's Day.  Donated articles fill the store where the AWANA kids shop for presents for friends and family.  The "purchases" are made with points earned during the year for activities and achievements.  Free gift-wrapping is also made available, so the children can buy and wrap their gifts without help from their parents. quiz

Parents are encouraged to get involved in AWANA activities.  Fun, family and friends are a theme running through all the AWANA meetings, with Christ at the center.  For more information, contact the church at 913-727-3115.

awana flagAWANA is an international, nondenominational youth ministry committed to reaching boys and girls with the Gospel of Christ and training them to serve Him.  After initial meetings, the children pay dues each year - scholarships are available to those who need them and special rates are available to families with multiple children attending AWANA club meetings.
